The 14-Year Old Blogger

There are certain instances that we simply cannot deny, nor turn back, since they are right there in front of your very face. And all you can do is be amazed and say (together with me)… WOW. Frankly, there are only a few things that please me and that makes me really want to find out if I’m not dreaming or anything. Armed with the fact that I’ve been surfing the Internet for a very long time now, I still keep on hoping to see pleasant surprises that are sane enough, and not the overly out-of-this-word type (after all this is the Internet; it’s an out-of-this-world fact where you can get a hold of anything).Okay, enough with the introduction already and let’s head down to business.

I did say I’ve been surfing the Internet for a long time (back from year 2001, specifically) and, to sum it all up, it’s nothing new to me when I see bloggers post their profiles on their own website talking about how they came up with their ideas as well as the purpose and intentions of the whole thing. I came across this www.carlocab.com that I’m assigned to look at and, as usual, I simply clicked on the buttons to see the contents as well as read most of the blogs to see how good and interesting they are. It’s not until I clicked on the “about me” button that it really made me feel like, well, really old but also quite astounded. Let me tell you about it.

Website owner background

The website owner is a 14-year old kid and he’s got a picture to prove it. His name is Carl Ocab, your average type of blogger representing the Philippines and you can always think that it’s the usual thing, but what really sets him apart from the “giants’ of blogging is the idealism and character that belongs to a boy. I’m not going to try and rule out anything but it did surprise me at first, but then I started thinking that maybe this is just a picture of the dad’s kid, or a neighbor’s kid, or whatever. Or, a trendsetting strategy that is fairly, or could be totally, gaining attention from the blogging world. That, indeed, occurred to me. And it’s quite impressive.Of course, ideas do swirl in different aspects especially when it comes to the online world with its immeasurable potential. And this “kid” has been able to obtain this idea and took advantage of it.

Site appearance

Well, first thing that greeted was the website’s huge domain name and its slogan “make money with a 13-year old kid”. It did raise curiosity in me and it kind of made me excited since this could be a different one, and it was. Website-wise, it’s a solid average-rate for me. Not so much on the colors though since black, gray and white are neutral colors that blend well. I do understand what advertising means to the blogger but at least the “tiny” ads should be placed right above the title of the first or featured blog or somewhere else pleasant for the eyes.

I had, like, a total of 22 scroll downs until the end of the page and, honestly, I didn’t’ enjoy it at all. I did the click+hold and drag down technique and, still, I didn’t enjoy it. But, I would say the blogs made it all worth it since they were very informative and I had a good time reading it.

As usual, the buttons are placed on the top page and has an ample content that is worth clicking on. Also, the advertising can be Carlo’s asset since his weblog is ranked number 1 on the Google list, which is very impressive. I would definitely try and advertise to this website if I have the chance. Well, someday or maybe.

Blogs

Well, blogs are blogs and Carlo did great on this one. Some of the topics are enlightening to read while some are just the usual since I do read blogs, especially about making money online. However, Carlo was able to render certain blogs like dragging in Paris Hilton into the whole blogging scenario and how she was able to contribute a thing or two. Tips, advices and points are some of the major content of blogs and it has captured its purpose. I’d be happy to rate it 7 out of 10 for the refreshing ideas and straightforward suggestions.

History of blogs is placed on the “sitemap” button that gives you a long list of recent blogs posted by Carlo.

Features

www.carlocab.com has three key features. The free report box that sends free information on how to make money online “out of nothing”, he says. The RSS feed that lets the visitor subscribe to the website’s blogs free-of-charge. The search box (you know what this is). The wordpress themes that features webpage templates that can be downloaded courtesy of Carlo himself.

Other than those, there also links that should be helpful for readers to get their hands into.

Overall

Simplicity and straightforward approach are some of the punches that made this whole website become the most visited website in the Google search engine, of course if you put the keywords “make money online”, this website is the very first one to meet your eyes. The position of number 4 on the page ranking can draw tons of advertisers willing to put their ads for business-purposes. I’m quite envious with the outcome of the website and how is he able to achieve that top-of-the-world website status. It wouldn’t hurt to dream at all.
