Internet marketing through the power of videos
In the multimedia age, most people specially the younger generation detests reading, so videos are more effective. As you have noted, most sales pages now have videos instead of the usual long lengthy boring to read sales pages. The popularity of video sharing sites such as YouTube can attest to this growing trend.
Videos are a good way to capture the attention of your web site visitors. Based on my experience, some of my sites with video fare better in terms of sales conversion than those without.
But you have to factor and consider what is your target group and design your website based on that knowledge. Yes, some people prefer videos than plain text but you must also consider that video marketing is only as effective in a country or demographics with relatively faster bandwidth so that video could stream almost instantly. It will be a bane for a certain group with slow internet speed and will likely turn them away.
Videos are good in attracting customer but it should be minimal in your site. You should not have those annoying auto-play videos. Most of the time they just slow down the browser in loading the pages. Your site should give the option to the visitors whether they want to see the video or not. Web visitors usually like when everything is nicely presented and the site’s navigation is guiding them to where to look and presents them the more important details right away.
