GarryConn Contest

There are a lot of "earn money" blogs out there that provides information on how to make money online. The same site with tips and guides on how to make the most of your time on making money on the web. And in this highly competitive arena, I guess we will never run out of unsolicited advice on how to make money on-line.

To lure visitors some blog authors are now doing some promotional gimmick. I have noticed that attracting visitors by initiating a contest has become a fad. This strategy has been used before by some successful bloggers and now copied by new bloggers alike. Promotional contest must really be an effective marketing strategy as manifested by such.

One of these sites who does this thing is garryconn.com. There's not much to say about the site or about the author of the website since I could not find the "about" page. It is probably being lost or overwhelmed by its contents or I might have missed it because of the crowded interface. Also, I just could not tell when the blog started because there's no archive link or simply because, again, I could not find the link in the main page. I did a query on "whois" and found out that garryconn.com has been around the web since 2005. The importance of the "about" page should not be taken for granted.

The color theme is not just my type. Its just too harsh for my taste. I have this tendency to choose simple designs over highly crowded graphic interface. The main page is not chaotic though but for me its just too crowded. Its probably just me.

Blog posts are varied that covers topic that ranges from “on how to increase traffic” and to “on increasing popularity”. Its not that bad as I have learned something, though how trivial, from this blog and so I have not wasted my time for this review. Now I know through the author's posting and through its initiated contest that GIF image format is much older than JPEG and that the first internet banner advertisement was created on Oct. 25th, 1994. How's that for a trivia.

There's the standard RSS feed link for the readers and thats the only thing I have noticed of. There's not even a “search button” provided for the surfers convenience. Again, there's not much in the site that can be considered a feature because I think the graphics or images has overshadowed its good contents. This might not pose a problem for its current subscribers or readers but this could somehow deter the new visitors of the site.

To sum it all, I find the graphic advertisement and some blog posting with overly space consuming images quite distracting but it might not be a big deal for some people out there. I have noticed about 103 readers during the time of the review and so the color theme or the crowded interface is not really a big factor for the current readers or subscribers on the site as long as it has the right, up-to-date and useful contents that they will patronize and get hooked to. Yes the site is still worthy of your time.
